Samsung Galaxy Note Sells more than 5 Million

The Samsung Galaxy Note is by far the largest smartphone on the market, and some find it much too big to use as a phone. This would be why many are dubbing it a "phablet", the combination of a tablet and a phone. All jokes aside, the device seems to have struck an audience, and is on its way to selling 10 million by the end of 2012. Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Note has already passed the 5 million mark since it's launch.
The device certainly appeals to the business crowd in that it's a small enough device to keep handy and travel with, comes with the Samsung "S" Pen to make things a little more like the old "PDA" devices of office yesterdays. The device is comical to see people using as a phone though, but people seem to be buying it none-the-less.
The Samsung Galaxy Note features a 1.4 Exynos dual-core processor, 5.2inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an 8 megapixel rear camera and 32GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy Y Android phone details

Samsung Galaxy Y Android phone preview

Samsung Galaxy Y preview: An Android smartphone that retails for just $129
Samsung's Galaxy Y Android phone
Samsung's Galaxy Y Android phone
Android phones continually exceed our expectations when it comes to bang for your buck. A great example is the Samsung Galaxy Y — Telstra has just announced that it will sell the phone for the bargain basement price of $129 on pre-paid.
Telstra now selling Galaxy Y for just $129
Telstra EasyTouch Discovery 3 review
There isn't anything new or remarkable about the Galaxy Y. It's a candybar phone with a small 3in touchscreen, a 2-megapixel camera and an MP3 player. The phone is 11.4 mm thin and is available in coral pink or metallic grey colours — all in all, it has a straightforward set of features.
For $129 though, that standard features list includes full access to the Android Market. There's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a GPS receiver. The Galaxy Y even comes pre-loaded with the Navigon GPS application. This provides full turn-by-turn navigation using the Galaxy Y's built-in GPS receiver. Telstra says the Samsung Galaxy Y is Blue Tick rated, so it should provide superior mobile network coverage in regional and rural areas of Australia.
As with most budget smartphones, you need to find out what you're NOT getting rather than what is included. The biggest issue will no doubt be the small 3in screen: we suspect this will be fine for general use, like swiping through home screens and dialing phone numbers, but it is likely to result in a cramped on-screen keyboard. Though we won't judge the Galaxy Y until we get our hands on it, we expect Web browsing to be significantly affected by the small screen, too.
One feature that may be a saviour for text input is the addition of Swype technology, an optional, on-screen keyboard that allows you to slide your fingers over the letters you want to type in a single motion. It's a nice inclusion considering the Galaxy Y's low price tag.
The Samsung Galaxy Y is available now on Telstra's pre-paid Cap Encore offer. A $30 recharge gives you $250 worth of total credit for talk and text along with 400MB data to use within 30 days. The offers includes free calls and text messages to all Australian numbers from 6pm-6am until 23 April.

Samsung GALAXY Y Smartphone

Diving into the world of Young
Great Potency with Compact Design

Samsung Galaxy Y smartphone review

We've now updated our review to reflect our findings with a fully working version of the Samsung Galaxy Y - including a price drop to under £90.
Samsung wants to cater for a range of users, not just those wanting the biggest, fastest and most media hungry phones and the Samsung Galaxy Y looks to bring functionality to the low-end range.
The 'Y' stands for 'Young', which clearly signals the market this phone is targeted at. The Galaxy Y sells itself as a budget Android device which allows you to keep updated on the go, from poking your friends to tweeting what you had for lunch.
The Samsung Galaxy Y replaces the Galaxy Mini at the bottom of the Galaxy range and this puts it head to head with the Orange San Francisco 2, HTC Wildfire S and Alcatel One Touch 990.
Samsung galaxy y review

The Galaxy Y is low on specs, but this means it is also low in price – available for free on contracts starting from just £9.99 per month, or £90 on PAYG, making it very competitive. A SIM-free option will set you back around £115.
Samsung galaxy y review

The Galaxy Y is a dinky device measuring 104 x 58 x 11.5mm and housing a 3-inch QVGA (240x320) TFT touchscreen.
Samsung galaxy y review

You'll notice that the screen is certainly petit, but Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) still works well – albeit looking rather grainy due to the low-res TFT display.
