HTC One S Smartphone is coming to India on June 8 for Rs 33,000

HTC One S mobile phone has premium features like the One X, which was hailed as the best Android smartphone.

HTC's One S smartphone is now available in India. The Mobile Store, an online retailer, is selling the phone for Rs 33,000. However, the phone will be available from June 8.
HTC One SAccording to the online retailer, the MRP of the phone is Rs 33,000, so HTC will most likely make an announcement regarding the launch of the handset in India within a week or two at the same price.

HTC One S phone will come with Android 4.0 operating system and a dual core 1.5 GHz clockspeed processor. Besides, there will be an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit inside the phone.
HTC One SLike HTC One X, it will have an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera along with LED flash. The 4 inch Super Amoled capacitive touchscreen phone will have a VGA front camera as well. Like other One series smartphones of HTC, the One S will also come with Beats Audio.

The HTC One S smartphone will come with a 4.3 inch Gorilla glass screen which is scratch resistant. Further, it will be one of the thinnest smartphones in the market with its 7.8 mm metal body and 119.5 grams weight.
It will have 16 GB of internal storage with 1 GB RAM, and connectivity features like Bluetooth, WiFi, DLNA functionality, and micro USB.
HTC has so far launched two One series phones in India. While we have already reviewed the HTC One X, you can read our first-hand review of the HTC One V.

HTC Desire C Smartphone - HTC Desire C Mobile Phone officially announced

HTC Desire C Smartphone -  HTC has formally announced a budget friendly Desire C that will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will feature Beats Audio and a 5 megapixel camera.

After several leaks, HTC has finally made its budget friendly Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone official as the Desire C. The new HTC Desire C will feature HTC One-like styling and will have Beats Audio technology. HTC Desire C will feature a 3.5 inch display and have a 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 mobile processor inside it. As of now there is no word on its official pricing but it is expected to be made available in Polar White, Stealth Black and Flamenco Red colours in select European countries.

Most HTC devices have fine build quality and feel very comfortable in the palm. The HTC Desire C was previously leaked and dubbed Wilfire C and Golf. This smartphone will come with a 3.5 inch LCD HVGA (480 x 320 pixel) resolution screen. In a way, it is a successor of HTC Explorer. Under the chassis, this smartphone houses a 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 mobile processor. We believe it's the slightly tweaked Qualcomm MSM8255A chip with Cortex-A5 CPU and 512 MB RAM.
At the rear, HTC Desire C Phone features a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.8 aperture and no flash. There's a speaker mesh next to the camera module. Desire C comes with 4 GB on-board storage of which we believe only 2.8 GB will be available to the user. But the device will come with 25 GB free Dropbox storage for two years.

HTC Desire C will feature HSPA+">HSPA+ support with 7.2 Mbps speed. HTC has added a 1230 mAh battery to this smartphone to make it run for long. For good multimedia experience, this smartphone will feature Beats Audio.

Currently, there is a need for a good budget device that comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC Desire C best suits the bill. As of now, the pricing of this handset is not made official but we can expect it to be around Rs 15,000.

HTC Flyer Tablet Smartphone

The Good: Fans of 7-inch tablets will appreciate the HTC Flyer's screen quality, durable construction, HD video recording, and unique features, such as digital pen compatibility and HTC's Sense UI customization.

The Bad: The Flyer is small, thick, and pricey, and isn't running Google's Android 3.0 tablet OS. Its most unique feature, the Magic Pen, may not come included and is expensive to replace.

The bottom line: The HTC Flyer puts a new spin on the 7-inch Android tablet, but its high price and smartphone-style OS are a tough sell next to its bigger, cheaper Honeycomb kin.

Editors' note: As the exclusive retailer of the Wi-Fi-only HTC Flyer, Best Buy has lowered the tablet's price to $299 and cut the price of the Scribe pen accessory to $40.
While the rest of the industry is rushing to produce 10-inch tablets that compete directly against the Apple iPad 2, HTC is throwing out a curveball called the HTC Flyer. Using a 7-inch screen and running Android 2.3, the HTC Flyer feels like an echo of 2010's Samsung Galaxy Tab. Its pricing is also a little behind the times, with a 16GB model priced at $499 in a time when dual-core 10-inch tablets can be had for a hundred dollars less.

Does the Flyer have its head in the sand, or is this portable 7-inch tablet worth every penny? Let's take a look.

Hardware design
The Flyer looks and feels like a high-end take on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The 7-inch screen size and surrounding bezel are identical, but HTC wraps its tablet in iPad-like aluminum with two strips of nonslip rubber padding on the back. With a little brute force, the topmost rubber fitting can be removed to reveal a microSD memory expansion slot, which is a convenient design trick adopted from the world of smartphones.
Across the bottom of the screen you'll find the typical trio of Android smartphone navigation buttons (Home, Menu, and Back) along with an illuminated button that responds only to HTC's optional Magic Pen accessory, which we'll explain in the next section. One impressive feature of the navigation controls is that they'll reorient to the bottom of the screen regardless of whether you're holding the tablet in portrait or landscape. It's a neat and practical trick, and one we haven't seen before. That said, it's a trick that today's Android 3.0 tablets don't need to employ, since all navigation is moved to the screen.
On the top edge of the Flyer you'll find a headphone jack and a power button/screen lock. The right edge offers an ample-size volume rocker along with two pinhole microphones. The back holds a pair of small speaker grilles and a 5-megapixel camera lens capable of HD video recording (though lacking an integrated flash).

On the bottom edge of the Flyer is a unique 12-pin Micro-USB port, compatible with the included USB sync cable and charging adapter. At first blush, we found it annoying that HTC would use a specialized connector for syncing and charging, but it turns out that our old trusty five-pin Micro-USB (type B) cable works just fine. All those extra pins are just there for HTC's line of audio/video output accessories. In the end, it's a model example of how manufacturers can maintain basic connection standards, while still incorporating specialized accessories.
Overall, the HTC Flyer is a solidly built little tablet with a lot of attention paid to details. But in comparison with Apple's highly successful iPad 2, the HTC Flyer is relatively thick and its screen area is around half that of the iPad. There's an argument to be made for tablets with the Flyer's smaller, more portable screen size, but for us, the experience often overlaps too much with using a smartphone and still feels constricted for Web browsing.

The back of the HTC Flyer is a mixture of aluminum and white rubber, offering durability and an expensive feel.

Features
As a 7-inch tablet running Android 2.3, the Flyer doesn't show us much we haven't seen on the Samsung Galaxy Tab running Android 2.2. Granted, we do appreciate HTC's Sense UI customizations for social network feeds and commonly used applications (Mail, Internet, Stocks, Weather, Reader), but that hardly makes up for the $150 premium over the Tab. There are a few little things that made us smile, such as Adobe Flash 10.1 being preinstalled, and the browser's default setting to load full sites instead of their mobile-optimized versions. Still, these are refinements of an OS designed for smartphones, at a time when Google is pushing a distinctly different OS (Honeycomb) for use on tablets. It's going too far to say that HTC is putting lipstick on a pig, but HTC is definitely putting considerable effort into dressing up Android 2.3 to make it tablet-worthy.

HTC One X Smartphone gets new Android updates

HTC One X Smartphones Battery life and speed performance improvements arrive with the new Android 4.0 ICS build 1.28 for recently released HTC One X smartphone.

HTC has released the first update for its new flagship smartphone - One X (Endeavor). The new Android 4.0 Build 1.28, which is being pushed over-the-air, brings number of fixes for the One X smartphone while improving its battery life. This update has been rolled out for the HTC One X devices that shipped with Build 1.26 or 1.27 currently in European countries.
The early adopters of HTC One X did raise some concerns about the battery life despite the fact that the phone carries a massive 1800 mAh battery. The new Android build 1.28 for the One X brings number of battery improvements however one of the power control app related issue remains unsolved.
XDA-Developer forum noted that the NvCPLSvc.apk app has been placed in a wrong folder by mistake which is cited as the main reason of fast consumption of battery. The developers also released a redesigned power control app to be placed in the correct folder to gain about 20 per cent battery life improvement.

The bunch of improvements with the build 1.28 includes fix for the screen glitch issue that number of early One X buyers faced. Along with better Ice Cream Sandwich detection, the update also fixes Beats audio performance that used to skip tunes.

However, number of issues still not fixed includes NvCPLSvc.apk app placed in the same wrong folder instead of correct folder. Also, Force GPU (which helps improve performance of applications) doesn't work and the build still uses old 2.6.x.x Kernel.

Considering the fact that HTC One X was released for Europe and India region, we can expect the Android 4.0 Build 1.28 update for India based One X owners soon.

HTC One X smartphone comes with massive 4.7-inch SLCD2 touchscreen display and houses a quad-core 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor. Featuring on-board 32 GB memory, the smartphone has a great 8 megapixel camera and practically everything usually found in a high-end smartphone. Sporting a 1800 mAh battery, the HTC One X is available in India's retail market for about Rs 37,500.

HTC to make low cost smartphones- HTC Smartphones

HTC has signed a memorandum of agreement with ST Ericsson to co-develop a processor to power its low cost smartphones that will be launched by next year.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is planning to enter the low cost smartphone space. Currently the cheapest smartphone that it sells is HTC Explorer, which is retailing at Rs 9,000 in India.
According to China Times, the Taiwanese smartphone maker has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with ST-Ericsson to co-develop the chip that will power these phones. However, neither of the two companies have confirmed the move.

While there are no details available about the proposed smartphones, HTC has been apparently unhappy with Qualcomm which supplies most of chipsets to the company right now.

Samsung and Apple are two other handset vendors who have their own set of chipset designs, but the major difference here is that while Apple and Samsung use the chips to power their flagship models, HTC will do that for its entry level phones.

HTC currently makes smartphones based on Windows Phone 7 and Android platforms. However, it has said time and again that it remains open to operating systems and will choose the one that is in demand.

HTC has been suffering from loss of market share and has been posting poor results but in the current quarter, it is likely to post a 55 per cent jump in profits, on account of good sales of HTC One series phones.[MR1]

The company recently bought Dr Dre's Beats Audio, a specialist in the field of audio enhancement and high end headphones, which is expected to raise the demand for its phones too. Read More - http://www.themobileindian.com/news/6259_HTC-to-make-low-cost-smartphones

The good: The HTC Droid Incredible 2 improves on its predecessor by adding world-roaming capabilities and a larger, sharper screen. The Android device has a solid construction and features an 8-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture.
The bad: The smartphone lacks 4G support and isn't running the latest Android software.
The bottom line: Though the lack of some features is disappointing, the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is an improved device and a good choice for Verizon customers looking for a global smartphone.

One of our favorite smartphones from 2010 was the HTC Droid Incredible. The smartphone's zippy performance and polished user experience helped earn it an Editors' Choice Award. Obviously, its day has come and gone, but it's not the end of the line. HTC unveiled its successor, the HTC Incredible S, at Mobile World Congress 2011 and it's finally made its way to the States and back to Verizon Wireless as the HTC Droid Incredible 2. Available now for $199.99 with a two-year contract, the Android device has some large shoes to fill and is facing a lot more competition this time around. Is it up to the task? The answer is yes and no. Read on for more.
    Design
At first glance, the HTC Droid Incredible 2 looks pretty plain, largely because the controls beneath the display aren't visible when the phone is turned off or in standby mode. It may not be very striking, but there's also a beauty in its clean and minimalistic look. Plus, that's not to say that the Droid Incredible 2 is completely boring. If you flip the phone over, you'll see that the back features a topographic design, much like on the HTC Droid Incredible. It's purely a cosmetic touch that may or may not appeal to your personal tastes, but as long as it doesn't interfere with using the phone--and it doesn't--then we're OK with it.

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is larger but curvier than its predecessor.
The Incredible 2 measures 4.75 inches tall by 2.52 inches wide by 0.48 inch thick and weighs 4.77 ounces. It's slightly bigger than the Droid Incredible but remains pretty sleek, thanks to the tapered edges. A nice soft-touch finish coats the back and sides of the handset, but gone are the red interior and accents that gave the Droid Incredible an attractive splash of color.
Gracing the front of the phone is a 4-inch, 480x800-pixel Super LCD touch screen. It's an upgrade in size and quality from the Droid Incredible, as the Super LCD technology offers better contrast and wider viewing angles than regular LCDs. We definitely noticed the difference, as text and images looked sharper and more vibrant on the brilliant screen, and it holds its own against the iPhone 4's Retina Display and Samsung's Super AMOLED touch screens. That said, the screen does wash out in bright sunlight.
The multitouch screen has a built-in accelerometer and proximity sensor and felt very responsive during our testing; launching applications, scrolling through menus or home screens, and using the pinch-to-zoom gesture posed no problems. Helping phone navigation is HTC's Sense user interface, which brings a host of helpful interface tools and customization options, as well as a faster boot time. You can read more about HTC Sense in our full review of the HTC Inspire 4G. We have to say that HTC's virtual keyboard doesn't feel quite as fast as some of its competitors, but the layout is roomy and we found it easy to use.
Below the display, you get the usual Android shortcuts: home, menu, back, and search. However, HTC has added a cool touch: when you rotate the phone to landscape mode, the icons also rotate. Is it an earth-shattering feature? No, but we appreciate the attention to such fine details.

On back, you'll find the phone's 8-megapixel camera. The topographic design is carried over from the original Droid Incredible.
On the left side of the phone, there's a volume rocker and a Micro-USB port. The right spine is devoid of any controls, but we would have loved a dedicated camera button. The top of the device houses the 3.5mm headphone jack and power button, and sitting on the upper-right side, just above the display, is the 1.3-megapixel front camera. On the back you'll find an 8-megapixel camera and dual-LED flash.
The HTC Droid Incredible 2 comes packaged with an AC adapter, a USB cable, a preinstalled 16GB microSD card, a SIM card, and reference material.
    Features
The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is really more of an incremental upgrade to the original model, and as such, you won't see some of the latest technology and software on the handset, which is sure to disappoint some. That said, we are happy to see the addition of world-roaming capabilities. The Droid Incredible 2 is a dual-mode handset, meaning that it supports both CDMA and GSM networks. Here in the States, it will continue to run on Verizon's CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A network as usual, but once abroad, the phone will automatically detect and switch to a GSM network.

HTC Evo 3D vs LG Optimus 3D Smartphone comparison

Well matched 3D phones but both have their own trump cards. Which one is better we find out.

HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D launched at the same time in August last year continue to be only mainstream smartphones with stereoscopic 3D screen and 3D camera. Both the phones have similar specification.

Here is a comparison of the two phones.

Design HTC Evo 3D vs LG Optimus 3D Smartphone
While both the phones look good, HTC Evo 3D looks more of a retro design with textured line back cover that aids grip and dual camera that can capture 3D images and cameras. The camera was placed in the middle of the phone with a raised glass finish while two LED flash are there in between the two cameras.
The front of HTC EVO 3D looks like any other smartphone but has four capacitive buttons with a ring around them.
LG Optimus 3D on the other hand looks more modern in matte finish and aluminum inserts in its back cover. The dual cameras are situated on the top left of the back panel with an LED in between.
HTC EVO scores better on two counts here - it has 2 LED flash compared to the lone LED flash of Optimus. Also, EVO has a physical camera button along with a toggle that aides switching between 2D and 3D modes while Optimus has only one camera button.
Both the phones have similar dimensions - EVO is 11.3 mm in width while Optimus is 11.9 mm thick. Thus EVO is slightly narrower than the Optimus which aids a good grip but the difference is almost negligible. While EVO measures 65.4 x 126.1 x 11.3 mm, Optimus measures 68 x 128.8 x 11.9 mm. On the weight front too both are almost the same weight with EVO weighing 170 grams Vs 168grams of Optimus.

Best Display
Both the phones have 4.3 inch screen, however EVO 3D (540 x 960 Pixels) has better resolution than the Optimus 3D (800 x 480 Pixels). While it is hard to differentiate the two with naked eye, the EVO's screen appears slightly better.
Both the screens render 3D images using Parallax barrier technology that provides glasses free 3D viewing facility. The two smartphones also offer similar performance vis-a-vis 3D image capturing, but for best 3D effect you will have to find the correct viewing angle on both the phones.
LG has slight edge in terms of more content that is available in the handset. The South Korean company has joined hands with YouTube for 3D content. The phone is also capable of converting 2G images and videos into 3D - a quality which is though debatable but is not present in HTC EVO.
When it comes to 2D image/video capturing, both the phones offer decent image quality with good colour and brightness levels. In terms of screen itself HTC EVO 3D is better but in terms built in content, Optimus scores higher.

Performance
HTC Evo 3D has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion dual core processor with 1 GB of RAM. Optimus 3D though has slight lower specification with 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Dual Core processor and 512 MB RAM. While both the phones show no sign of freezing or slowing down, HTC EVO 3D definitely looks better and feels a tad faster than the Optimus.

EVO 3D also has a bigger 1730 mAH battery compared to 1500 mAH battery of the Optimus 3D. This also reflects in battery back-up with Optimus offering slightly lesser battery life than the EVO 3D.
Camera
Both the phones offer two 5 megapixel cameras at the back which capture 3D images and videos and also 2D images if you choose to do so. For videos, both can shoot at 1080p in 2D mode and 780p in 3D mode.
However, when it comes to the actual photograph, Optimus 3D emerges as the winner with sharper and more natural looking 2D photos and videos. The 3D effect is also good in Optimus 3D. However, EVO 3D with dual LED flash has better low light capability.
EVO has better front facing camera with 1.3 megapixel resolution compared to a VGA unit on Optimus. However, with our weak 3G networks video calls work better with lower resolution images. So in this round Optimus clearly wins.

Operating system
Both the phones come with Android 2.3 and are soon going to be updated to Android 4.0.
HTC EVO has a stock combination of Android 2.3 and HTC Sense user interface, while Optimus 3D comes with a unique user interface which is good but is not as good as that of HTC's.

Verdict
While Optimus 3D is a capable device with quite good performance and 3D capability, EVO 3D out scores it in specifications and performance in most categories. Yet Optimus 3D seems to be a better choice if 3D is the prime reason for looking at these two phones as it has better 3D camera, and has more content to use its 3D capability.
