Samsung Wave 3 Smartphone Review and details

Samsung Wave 3 Review

Introduction: Samsung Wave 3 Smartphone

Samsung Wave 3 Review
Samsung Wave 3 Review
The latest grandmaster of Samsung’s bada OS dropped by the office to say hi, and the first impression it brought was that of a pretty solid device designwise. Unlike the original Wave, though, which was the first smartphone with Super AMOLED display and Hummingbird processor, the third edition won’t steal the spotlight with anything “first”.

It sports the newest bada 2.0 OS, a single core processor pumped up to 1.4GHz, and a 4” Super AMOLED display. Is it enough to battle today's overcrowded mid-range Android and Windows Phone market? Read on to find our thoughts on the Samsung Wave 3

Design:

Overall, we are very satisfied with the outer appearance – the phone is slim at 0.39“ (9.9mm), with reasonable 4.30oz (122g) of heft, despite the largely metal chassis, and has all the curves in the right places that make it comfortable to hold. Both the power/lock key on the right, and the volume rocker left are easy to find and press.

You can compare the Samsung Wave 3 with many other phones using our Size Visualization Tool.

Moreover, from the looks and materials one can immediately tell they are holding a high-end bada phone, so the Samsung Wave 3 has managed to both be distinctive, and keep the flagship design heritage alive, including using the trademark brushed metal looks. The only gripe is that it is a tad on the wide side, which makes it a bit unwieldy for people with smaller hands.

The 4” Super AMOLED display seems like taken directly from last year's Galaxy S editions. It has the same 480x800 resolution, wide viewing angles, gaudy colors and almost infinite contrast. Unfortunately, it still sports overly cold colors and the PenTile matrix, which places it a level below the Super AMOLED Plus display on the Galaxy S II, for example, and could use a tad more brightness for better use outside.

Half of the solid metal chassis simply slides up on rails when you push a thin button on the back, revealing the battery compartment with the SIM card and microSD slots – enough with ruining your manicure trying to pry open a back cover. You can insert the SIM and the memory card without removing the battery at all.

nokia lumia 800 phone with front camera, Tap Into Your Nokia Lumia 800

Take one Nokia Lumia 800, one laptop or PC and a copy of Zune and you have a neat and slick way to update your smartphone to the latest version. With the news that the Nokia Lumia 1600.2483.8106.11500 firmware update is now live, it seems like a couple opportunity to share this video.
If you're new to Windows Phone then knowing how to get the latest updates may be something you'll need to get to grips with. Thankfully, Nokia has putt together this video aimed at giving even the most non-tech savvie Nokia Lumia 800 user the skills to keep their smartphone up-to-date.
The second update (1600.2483.8106.11500) has been designed to enhance battery performance and improve Wi-Fi connectivity. Nokia UK has informed us that it should start rolling out to handsets from this evening, but not all Nokia Lumia 800s will receive it  straight away. As ever with such software update, it'll be a staggered launch, so some users will receive it next week.

In its latest version, Windows Phone is the best thing Microsoft makes. Sadly, it’s never had hardware that really feels like a truly premium product – until now.

Nokia's Lumia 800 is the first device to do justice to Windows Phone

Nokia's Lumia 800 is the first device to do justice to Windows Phone
The Nokia Lumia 800 is, according to CEO Stephen Elop, “the first real Windows Phone”. Other models, made by HTC and Samsung, have been decent enough, but they don’t offer the solidity of the new Lumia 800.
The operating system now boasts over 40,000 apps, too, so the two companies can claim that the partnership is already driving increased momentum for Microsoft's superb operating system.
And although the seamless polycarbonate shell and the solidity of the device are impressive, in fact it’s the Windows Phone software that really shines. Teamed with Nokia’s excellent design and camera heritage, there’s a lot to like, whether it’s the Office integration, gaming with Xbox live or simply social network integration.
The 3.7” screen offers Super AMOLED resolution, and Windows Phone’s living tiles really do look impressive; showing you the weather, a boarding pass or a friend’s photograph, the display hardware here is as good as this software needs. And the phone’s tactile, matte finish means the Lumia is not like the bar of soap that many other phones often seem to be modelled on. It’s also pleasingly weighted, at 142g.
Unique apps on the Lumia are limited; Nokia Drive offers a decent satnav alternative, but so do iOS apps and so does Google Maps on any Android phone. A Music app provides pre-arranged playlists, for people who would like a radio substitute. Elsewhere, of course, other Windows Phone apps can be downloaded from the main Microsoft Marketplace.

Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos smartphone review

Samsung's entry level touch and type Android mobile phone has a lot of features like dual SIM, but how is it to use?

pros
  1. Good keypad layout
  2. Decent battery life
  3. Dual SIM function
cons
  1. Low resolution screen
  2. Small screen size
  3. Display doesn't support multi touch
 Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos
Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos is an entry level Android offering from Samsung with full Qwerty keypad and dual SIM function at Rs 8,900. While the combination of these features makes it an interesting proposition it is important that performance is equally promising.

We used the phone for two weeks and here is our take on its performance.

Facebook's smartphone is coming next year

Facebook has partnered with HTC Company to work on a Facebook smartphone project codenamed - Buffy.

Popular social network, Facebook may come out with its own smartphone next year, New York Times has reported. It is to be noted that till now only a handful of smartphones come with a dedicated Facebook button while many has deeper integration of the social network into the phone. However, a smartphone from Facebook itself is being expected for a long time.
Last year, it was reported that Facebook has partnered with HTC to work on a major smartphone, which has been codenamed as Buffy. After the Facebook IPO went public, the company now plans to sincerely focus on the Buffy smartphone.
According to some Facebook employees and those close to the Buffy project, whom NY Times has quoted, Facebook has hired a team of former Apple employees who worked on the iPhone for the smartphone project. One among them is the person who worked on the iPad. The employees told the newspaper that Facebook may release the Buffy smartphone next year.
Facebook has partnered with HTC
In past, Facebook has worked with HTC over two smartphones - ChaCha and Salsa. Both the smartphones came with a dedicated Facebook key and tighter integration. Now the social network giant wants to go beyond just the dedicated key and Facebook integration.
It is quite clear that the social network doesn't want to restrict itself to just an app or mere integration with an operating system. Majority of the Facebook users would like to see a Facebook smartphone but we hope that the developers do understand that not everyone's life revolve around Facebook. Of course, it would be a great hit amongst the teens and the youth. One thing is still not clear on whether Facebook will create an operating system of its own or use Android yet again.

The previous set of 'Facebook' flavoured phones received less than a lukewarm response and didn't turn out to be a blockbuster like it was expected. Also the current Facebook mobile apps plagued with poor performance has really put Facebook creators in troubled waters.
A Facebook employee told NY Times, "Mark is worried that if he doesn't create a mobile phone in near future than Facebook will simply become an app on the mobile platforms."
Every Facebook user would like to see a smartphone exclusively running and breathing the social network. But are they ready enough to be bombarded with the ads on their palms?
